The “flag”that was repeatedly brought up was a big symbol of pledge and support in this story. When the teacher ask the students what it meant to them they had no real idea what it stood for.Ms warden then decided to interpret or manipulate the definition. For example, so you are promising or pledge support to the flag  and saying that it is much more important than you are .“How can a flag be more important than a real life person? We don't need a flag  to remind us that we love our country ,do we?You’re all  good boy’s and girl’s. Do you need a sign to remind you?” This short story in a way symbolized the beginning of a formed dictatorship. It reminded my group and I of Nazi Germany when everyones ideas were given to them instead of processed themselves.
